Good day all,

I came to Canada last November to be with my fiance (now my wife) on a visitors Visa.  I left earlier this year to go back to the UK as my visitors visa had run out.  I re-rentered canada in June on another visitors visa and it is due to expire at the end of the year.  For months now i have been gathering information on sponsership, and to be honest its all very confusing.

Is it quicker to hand our paperwork inland or outland?

If i choose outland, can i submit my 'application to extend conditions'.... inland, and then the rest of the paperwork to the UK visa office.

If anyone is has any help or information that would alleviate some of this stress it would be greatly appreciated!

"Quicker" generally seems to be with outland applications for completion of PR.  Processing of inland applications has two stages, first is Approval in Principle at which time you can apply for an open work permit.  Takes about 5 to 6 months.  Then actually becoming a PR can take another year or more.  For outland, first stage approval is approval of eligibility of sponsorship, around 6 weeks.  Doesn't give YOU anything.  Then the file is sent to the overseas mission where applications are currently being completed in 2 to 8 months for CHC London.

Yes, you can apply for extensions inland while your process is ongoing.  You should do this whether you apply inland or outland if your TRV will expire before you receive AIP (inland) or PR.

And FYI, outland applications go to CPC-Mississauga first.  They send them to the overseas mission after sponsorship approval is received.

No urgency as the spouses are already living together.

does it mean that if a spouse is on TRV, they in the local visa office abroad can slow down the process?

No.  It won't affect processing time for outland.
