Hello,

Just curious, some people/sites say if you get married, there are no income requirements, however on the gov website I cannot find this statement. Not sure if I can provide proof of this because of recent financial issues. My girlfriend is here on a student Visa till october and we plan on getting married real soon because we want to be together forever. Wondering if my dad could sponsor, or co-sponsor if I dont have the required income tax forms and money to sponsor.

Is there a step by step procedure for this? I'm mostly worried about the income thing. If she has to leave because I cant prove I'm rich enough that would be devastating.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

thanks,

Chris

As far as I know you can be unemployed and still sponsor a spouse, income is not an issue.

So what are the qualifications a sponsor must have enable for him to sponsor someone?

You don't have to show income to sponsor a spouse or kids.
