I am a US citizen, recently married to a Canadian citizen. Although I still have an address in the US, I am spending nearly all my time with my husband in Canada.

Throughout our courtship and since our marriage, I have been the one to travel to Canada to be with him, rather than vice versa. (My work in the US allows me to work from anywhere.)

He is fully qualified to be my sponsor. We have lots of evidence supporting the authenticity of our marriage. And I have no criminal record or medical condition, so there should be no obstacles to my application.

So, 2 questions:

1) Given my brief description, do any of you see a problem with applying for a PRV as "outside Canada"?

2) As I will have to travel with some frequency between now and getting my PRV, could there be any problems at customs when I come into Canada?

Thanks for your help!

Hello Mapleleafrag,

Apparenntly you seems to be in a perfect condition to apply for PR through your sponsoring husband in Canada. I think its better to apply while being Canada rather than from US. But thats my personal opinion. The fact that you might have to travel back and forth between US and Canada does not affect your application process significantly.

Wish you all the best.

but its faster if you apply from outside canada, you can still visit with your husband, and i have read you and stay like 6 months at a time and processing time for outside is about that long, you just cant work or get health coverage or anything like that.

Apply outside of Canada; the process goes faster than applying from within Canada.  And the policy reason why CIC gives a speedier preference to applying from outside of Canada is because they want to reunite husband and wife and do not want to keep spouses apart for long.
