Hi,

My husband studied in Canada (Edmonton) as an international student and once he completed his engineering Degree, he moved back to Kuwait for work.  He is an Indian Citizen living/working in Kuwait currently.

I am a Canadian citizen and we have known each other for a long time.  We got married in June 2010 and applied for sponsorship right away at the end of the month through the New Delhi Consulate.  Five months into our application, the New Delhi office wrote an email to my husband, requesting fingerprints as per the Canadian Immigration office.  He flew to India and showed up for fingerprints in New Delhi on December 7, 2010. The lady at the counter said it should take about 4-6 weeks to get the fingerprints cleared from Canada.  It has been almost 5 months since the fingerprints have been submitted and to date, we have absoloutly no news.   We have contacted the New Delhi consulate several times and they keep telling us that they have not received anything back from the Canadian Office.  I called CIC and they said that they do not know anything about the file after it is sent to India therefore they cannot help us.  As of now, the fingerprints are stuck in Canada (Ottawa) and we are waiting indefinitely but nobody is providing us with any information or status updates since nobody knows what is happening.  I feel helpless as I'm not even sure who I can contact to get some information.  It is going to be a year since we got married and we are still waiting to be reunited, based on when his visa comes through.

Has anyone heard of a situation like this?  Is there anyone I can contact to get information about why the fingerprints are stuck in Ottawa or what exactly is happening?

Hi

Order your CAIPS notes and talk to your MP.

And the OP should note that paper prints take up to 120 days once they reach the RCMP.  Then they have to be returned to Delhi.
