I'm a Canadian and my wife is a temporally foreign worker from the Philippines. When we got married she changed her last name to mine. She changed her name with Revenue Canada, her Alberta driver license, her NBI Clearance, our banks accounts, the lease to our apartment. We are doing the inland sponsorship application forms and the application to change conditions, extend her stay or remain in Canada. On all the forms the instructions from Citizenship and Immigration Canada says "Indicate your full last name (surname/family name) as it appears on your passport, travel or identity document" The Problem is we haven't changed her passport to her new married name yet. Should we fill out all the forms with her maiden name as it is on her passport even though her name has been changed on the NBI Clearance and also with the Alberta goverment ? I would say we should follow what their asking and use what is on her passport. She has been signing using her married name.. would that cause confusion on the forms? And what do I put on my sponsorship application? My wife's married name or with the maiden? Her work permit and visa are all in her maiden name.... Also on the applications it asks "other names used'. Can we put her full married name there? ie.. first/middle/married.. just the married name? or just leave it blank? We don't really want to try to change the passport at this point because it looks to be a big hassle.. Please if anyboby has any answers or sugestions it be really appreciate!!!.. Thanks!!

Thanks  Kedeisha! What your saying makes sense but would this work?  Right on the applications where she is suppose to put her name it says ....
Full Name
Family name(s) (exactly as shown on your passport or travel document)

To put her new married name in that section would be going against what their wanting.. which would maybe cause an automatic reject of the application. I don't know how sticky they are about things. Do they give a little leave way or do they go strictly by the book?

I just re read what u wrote use her maiden name only as her passport take precedence over the other documents and since she didnt change it yet I would just use her maiden name when u include her birth certificate and her passport those 2 will have the same name so u are good

and in the space where u write other names write her married name there but use the maiden name whenever u are writing her name for the applicant info and only put married when they ask for other name used

Sorry about my previous post but this is what i orginally meant

Put her name as it is on the Passport. They are not keen about the name as it is the same person.A lot of wives apply in their maiden name as it is not compulsory for them to change names.

Ok we will put her maiden name on the applications and her married name where it ask for other names used. It should be ok I'm thinking for her to sign the applications using her married because she indicated that it is a name that she uses.. Immigration Canada said she will get Implied Status once the application is sent in because her work permit will expire while were waiting for the first stage of approval and she doesn't want to renew her contract at her work. Will they issue her anything stating that she has Implied Status and if so would they be confused on what name to put it in as well as the open work permit and eventually her permanent resident status?

From what I have read u are on implied status once u apply and ur permit expire nothing is sent to u unles/until u r denied an extension but that's from what I read so there normally isn't nothing sent but since she came on a work permit n u mention she is not renewing her contract so she won't be working is that correct?

Immigration said that she don't need to renew her contract and can stay working for her employer but nowhere else while the application is in process and we wait for an open work permit.

This is our case as well, except it's in reverse as *I* am the sponsor and I had changed my last name to my husbands, all but my passport which is still in my maiden name. When I called CIC they told me to use my legal last name (which is my married name) but still put my maiden name on the passport question of the application. Include a copy of the marriage certificate in that section and in the cover letter for that part; mention that the name has not been changed on the passport yet. You can always call CIC to be sure.
