Hello guys,

My passport is expiring end of May, and we still haven't received my husband's AOR. His file was transfered to Buffalo on Jan 25, 2011. Since he cannot travel to Canada yet, I go to visit him every weekend (we live closeby but across the border). I am wondering if my passport expiring would be an issue for his file? I do not want to send the passport for renewal and wait for 3-4 weeks and not be able to travel, however, if it won't affect his file, I would rather wait until he gets his immigration and then send it for renewal.

Anyone has any info on that ??

It shouldn't affect his file.  Only his PP will be needed for PPR, and your passport was probably only needed to copy pages showing when you visited him, right?  Go ahead and re-new your PP and go visit Smiley

Sparkle: what province are you in?  Could you get the Enhanced Drivers License before you send in your passport so as to keep driving across the border to visit while it's being renewed?

I am in Ontario. I dont have enhanced driver license. The passport renewal takes about 3 weeks! I will renew it later, just was worried if they might question it and say that it is expiring...i just dont want any delay ....so was trying to know if some1 had such a case.

Even if just for peace of mind, I'd recommend it.  It's not expensive and it provides an additional way that you can use to cross the border if you're waiting for your passport renewal.

They won't need your passport at all so you can definitely renew it.  You can also pay an extra 35 dollars and have it rushed if you need it for travel.
