HI,
I'm a Canadaian Citizen, and I just recently turned 18. I'm applying to sponsor my husband from Pakistan and I was told I can sponsor without an Option C Printout, But unfortunetly my package was returned to me, requesting an Option C Printout. Currently I'm in Pakistan with my husband, and my question is, "Can I sponsor without an Option C Printout?" "Is there anyway I can claim income tax online, being my first time to recieve an Option C Printout?" Or am I simply doomed?
Much appreciated

Attach an explanation why you do not have the Option C printout and describe how you going to support yourself and spouse in Canada.

When I sent in my application I sent an explanation stating that I just recently turned 18 and will be claiming income tax later on, should I resend my application with a further details regarding my income tax, should I explain how I'm going to support my spouse?

Hello and congratulations on your marriage. You can sponsor your spouse without an Option C as long as you provide an explanation, acceptable to CIC. Canada Revenue Agency does NOT allow online filing for first time income tax return. You need to submit it by mail. You are elegible to file for prior years and after CRA accept your file, you can apply for Option C over the phone which will take another 10 days by mail to a Canadian address. HI,

Currently I'm in Pakistan, would it be possible to send it by mail, if so what do I have to send in the Package; what is needed to be provided when claiming income tax by mail? thanks alot for your reply. waiting...

you need to do some research on the cra web site, and also talk to an accountant or a friend who had filed taxes last year.
filing taxes is not something anyone here can help you with.
what you need to do is explain to CIC why you cannot provide an option c printout on a separate piece of paper and provide proof that you have enough income to provide for yourself and your husband (you need at least $35,000/year of income for yourself+husband, and more if you have others depending on you).

Sorry about my question, I'm wondering why she needs at least $35,000/year of income ? As I know, CIC doesn't mention about income when people sponsor their spouse/common-law partner/depend child, unless you're sponsoring parents/grand-parents....

You failed to understand the key para: "you have an income that is at least equal to the minimum necessary income, the amount of which is published yearly by the Canadian government. You will have to provide us with documents that show your financial resources for the past 12 months and prove you are financially able to sponsor members of the family class. You may solicit the help of a co-signer (must be your spouse or common-law partner). If you reside in Quebec, see also Sponsors living in Quebec. This condition does not apply if you are sponsoring only
* your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner who has no dependent children, or * your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner whose dependent children have no children of their own, or * your dependent child who has no children of his or her own.http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900E2.aspThere is no income requirement for sponsoring a spouse. People without jobs have successfully sponsored spouses. I'm not saying it's ideal but it's good to read all the forms and understand.

See OP 2 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op02-eng.pdf5.33. Exception to minimum necessary income requirement The ability to meet the minimum income requirement is mandatory, unless the sponsor is sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or a dependent child where the child has no dependent children of their own. This exception also applies to persons under the age of 18 whom the sponsor intends to adopt in Canada.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to add my two cents. I think in the case of the OP, CIC rejected her application because of her age. They probably thought, as I do, how can an 18 year old earn enough money to sustain two or more people? This is probably the primary reason CIC rejected her...

CIC didn't really reject her case, just require more information (Option C). Even though she was not in Canada but she should provide a letter to explain why she didn't have OC which is mentioned on instruction/guide. She got the package returned, I believe it's just because "it is not a complete application".
