My brother who has PR status and is married to a Canadian is going to sponsor our parents to come to Canada.

What is the current processing time for PRs sponsoring their parents?

I am under the impression it is 3-4 yrs as for Skilled Workers, but I have also heard that it is 6-8 months as for spousal PR applications.

Clarification required!

Many thanks.

1.  27 months at Mississauga for approval/refusal
2.  Depends on the overseas office for the time there.  See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/08-fc-parents.asp

Hi,
I don't think your parents can get PR before 4 years. The normal processing time takes between 4 to 6 years.
You can review many timeline postings in this matter on trackitt.com

I submitted my sponsorship for my father back in july 2007.
and the first step, approval of sponsorship, is not even processed yet.
They're not processing applications from May 2007.

So after the sponsorship approved, i would assume 2-3 years max for the PR application that he has to apply from back home.
