Depending on where your parents are from times widely vary.  Right now first stage processing times in Mississauga is listed at 43 months and second stage can vary from 11 months at the lowest and 43 months at the highest.  These times may even increase in the future years and the amount of parental visas will be decreased.

kelKel once again thanks for such a quick and fast response for my query.

I am expecting my PR Visa anytime and due to some family issues, it may happen that my family and two sons may not land in canada before expiry of their Visas.

Will CHC accept my request to extend their Visas for some time (say 3 to 6 months) ?? and can it be extended for me also ??

I've never heard of people getting extensions on their visas because they usually coincide with the Medicals.  I know some have redone the Medicals giving them more time but I believe you might have to ask a more senior member.

You and your family can land and then return home straight away to deal with any loose ends or family issues.  It's alot of time & money wasted otherwise. Good luck!

No, they will not extend the visas.  If you don't land before expiry, you have to start over.

Thanks kelKel and rjessome. I agree with you.

Just out of my curiosity, For sponsoring wife and dependent child from India, does it take approx 30 months of time to get Visa, same as in case of parents ?? If not, 30months, then what is avg/appox time ??

Just to clarify...

For parents - it will actually take approximately 72 months total. 42 months of that processing takes places at the Mississauga office. The remaining 30 months will happen in India (New Delhi office).

It certainly won't take as long for your wife and dependent child. The processing times for them will be approximately 1 month in Mississauga - plus approximately 6 month in New Delhi (about 7 months total).

Oh, is it Huh I can not believe it.

72 months is very long long wait. Just apply and forget it for years to come.

Thanks "scylla" for clarifying and correcting my perspective about it.

Thanks for reiterating my point above in total months.  I guess I wasn't clear enough.

Your parents can certainly apply independently as skilled workers (if they qualify).
