Just my two cents...
Do the VO's take into account that not everybody has the gift of the gab and can bowl over the interviewer with their convincing rhetoric on their marriage? Some people are just plain shy or cannot function so well under pressure. That does not mean that they do not love their partners or aren't in a genuine relationship. This whole process is confusing - for the applicants AND for the VOs *sigh*.

I can't comment because I haven't seen the new file. However, like PMM, I don't hold out much hope.

i am not satisfied that you have bona fide relationship with your sponsor, Mrs............., you have a very superficial knowledge of her personal professional and family life and throughout the interview you demontrated no interest in her, you have not provided any facts demonstarting that you have maintained a shared and ongoing marital relationship with your sponsor and i am not satisfied that you are going to live with her in canada.
Wow, well this would explain why everyone is advising us to make sure we know even little details. I think sometimes couples get caught up in the moment when they are together and forget that there are a lot of things going on in each others lives when you are not together. Things that you might not think are important but really mean a lot to the VO.... Childrens names, birthdays, parents names, where they live and what they do, job title and description, I have even heard of one couple being asked each others shoe size....might sound silly but it is vital to being successful in your interview. I still think that if they are in a genuine relationship they should keep trying.... even if it means he has to apply for a work visa or student. If they truly want to be together then there are ways to do it.

Is there any way to do a complain or to protest? I have enough of reading or hearing stories of visa offices refusing visa because of stupid superficial reasons! A genuine relationship is about love, devotion and dedication to each other, commitment to the marriage, sacrifices, true friendship, etc. They should see the WHOLE PICTURE, not just a few wedding pictures to make a judgment! The life of two people is not a quick snapshot! It is months and months or years of waiting, of enduring, of not sleeping well, nourishing the bond despite the distance and the time difference, maintaining the hope no matter what. They don't realize that they could wreck lives of people, their marriage, their family, their dreams, their hopes, their plans for the future, etc? I am sure these visa officers can hold the hand of their beloved after work and feel safe and happy to have their beloved sleeping next to them. All I have is to rush home so I can read an email from my husband or to wait after a hard long week of work to have a time with him on msn during the weekend. I am tired of kissing my screen LOL Over the past year, I invested around $12,000 (most of it are a loan and a loaded credit card) in our relationship, to make things happen. It does not include loss of income when one of the partner takes time off from work to visit the other or is penalized with employment insurance (my case). And you are aware of all the other high costs we had to pay for more than 2 or 3 years: missing terribly our partner, loneliness, sadness, worries, stress, judgments of others, facing obstacles in the process of the application, headaches due to the bureaucraZy, increased fatigue, and so on! I believe that the whole thing of immigration should be thought over! I hope I did not write anything wrong. English is my second language AMEN!!

I followed rjessome's lead and read it last night. It scared the crap out of me re: the stuff we put in our application. I would agree that between the "fabrications" that the couple had to fess up to and the inconsistencies and lack of knowledge in the answers which CIC judged was due to miscommunication and lack of meaningful communication at best, one could see why immigration made the decision it did. But they nitpicked over whether Aziz knew exactly when his wife moved into her current place (he said two or three months but it was six or more). But the calling card cutting out multiple times during the hearing interview (I think it was).....come on, dude, you couldn't have found a secure line?
Aziz: you should read this paragraph more closely: "I note that the applicant is in good health, has English skills, has at least eleven years of formal education, and some work skills. I note that, notwithstanding, the applicant's family's modest lifestyle, they have been able to finance the appellant's travel to Morocco on at least two occasions. I note that the applicant has a cousin in Montreal and, though he has no current contact with that relative, a potential social network exists for him in Canada. In my view, the applicant has opportunities for settlement independent of the appellant in the circumstances of this case."
Translation: Why don't you find another immigration stream to come to Canada through, and if you really love this woman, you can be with her at last.

@ shamsia - I'm willing to bet no, the ones that are not outspoken and articulate about their relationship will be at a big disadvantage in an interview. These people are lawyers and they make their money by arguing, accusing, and nitpicking. Nuff said.
@ dair: Oh my God, if I were asked my husband's shoe size I would have no idea and I've been living with him for a year. Shoes and pants - I wouldn't know what to tell them because there's just way too much of a range for the size. Underwear and shirts - I know the size in part because it's just S/M/L to remember and because I've bought them for him. I think in the movie Greencard, Gerard Depardieu is asked what color toothbrush and brand face cream (yeah, way to scare people) his MOC wife (but budding love interest) Andie McDowell uses. He fails the face cream question and gets sent back to France (but not before he stops by a diner where Andie is sitting and she leaps into his arms and they have a long passionate embrace in front of immigration authorities). Ah, I love that movie.

I just read the whole thing! I did not know there was such an important age gap. He was 18 when he proposed marriage! He was a kid!!!!
And now I understand why the visa officers were skeptical about their relationship being genuine. I am skeptical too now.
