Hi,
Women in Morocco don't change their names when they get married so the marriage contract will be in your maiden name and that's how you sign. There is no expectation from CIC for you to change your name after you marry a Moroccan so get all of the immigration matters settled before you go about changing your name on your ID.
Ok, thank you... this is the way I wanted to do it anyway so glad to know it won't interfere with anything.

i have a question.how do we update these documents;do we have to print new forms or will it be included in the letter from immigration? updated Schedule 1/Background Declaration,Additional Family Information form and Application For Permanent Residency.
hubby received another call today, they already mailed him the letter to redo meds, and they asked about our activities since 2008,does it mean chat logs travel history etc? the woman who called sent him an email also that there is a mistake on the marriage certificate,it says he was single when we got married, this is his second marriage,he was married in norway, outside of morocco.in all our documents it says divorced, whey would this be a mistake,he was single.this is so confusing!!! thanks very much.
the addional paper work should be included with the medical redo form. its unlikely they are asking for chat logs since u have been approved at adr dont panic wait till he receives the letter have him scan and email it to u and follow instructions best of luck

thanks very much Lois Lane. i am not panicking actually, i am more confused than anything.i saw the 3 emails he received yesterday, one says along with the updated forms,we need your activities since 2008.i was just wondering if any body had any idea what that means since neither one of us have any clue.i won at full hearing, but i don't think the relationship was assessed.the minister's counsel made some comments and ask me a couple of questions, but nothing much.

I think they mean updating the Schedule 1/Background Declaration as well as the Travel form. They need current information about work, school, travel and addresses since 2008 (date of your last application) until now. However, Lois Lane has been through this so I will defer to her specific knowledge regarding appeals and this visa post.

I have tried to read all of the 221 pages... But I'm a lot more confused than ever now. I just got married in morocco in June 2010; however, now that I'm looking at the sponsorship papers to sponsor my husband I'm a little confused. It mentions there in the guide that my husband needs a medical exam and a police clearance paper so...:
1) Where can he get the medical, or can it be done at any doctors office in Morocco? 2) How long is this medical exam valid for? 3) Is the police clearance the same one as the marriage papers? If it is could I still use the one used for the marriage papers?
Also, my parents didn't attend the wedding but my husband's family did, so would that be an issue for proof of relationship? My family and I do not contact each other, however, I have very close friends that has known about my relationship and marriage with my husband for a long time now... Is there anything that I need to know so that I don't make a mistake in submitting my papers? Also, is there anything my husband needs to do especially for the interview?

Welcome to the forum. 1. Here is a list of the Designated Medical Practitioners in Morocco. http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medicalinfo.aspx?CountryID=1949&CountryName=MoroccoYour husband must have his medical done at one of these doctors. Please read the Region Specific Guide for Morocco for instructions about what he must take with him. The link is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3912e.pdf2. The medical is valid for 1 year. 3. No, the police clearance is called a Fiche Anthropometrique and he get it at his local police department. It's not the same as the one stamped by the court for marriage. The police clearance cannot be more than 3 months old by the time you submit your application to sponsor your husband. The only advise that any of us can give you if you plan to do the application yourself rather than hire a lawyer or consultant is to be very accurate and honest in your application. Be thorough as well. Ask lots of questions on this forum if you don't understand something. There are many helpful people here. Hopefully you have proof of your relationship from it's beginnings including pictures, emails, chat logs, telephone records, etc. You are now tasked with convincing a Visa Officer that your relationship is genuine. Read the CIC guides carefully and do not forget anything that they ask for. Never think that something is unimportant because if they ask for it, they want it. Best of luck.

this is not a problem. as long you can send them many pictures and receipts of trips and dinners together. make sure you tell in your application your friends and parents are aware of your mariage. pretty much all of us here when we got married to our morocan partners did not take our parents with us. so we were all fine. incha allah your application will be good to. thanks yusuf

Eek... a Lawyer? Wow, that's going to be pricey. Thank you for response!
I have another question, which is part of the Sponsor Quesionnaire:
9) Are you a naturalized canadian or permanent residence of Canada? I became a canadian citizen because of my parents... My dad (who's Canadian) married my mom, but I was born in the Philippines. He brought us here to canada and after 5 years I became a canadian citizen so... I don't know how to respond to this. I don't even remember when I became a permanent residence and the visa office that issued my visa. I know the city that I received my visa from.
Also. Number 10, when it asks WHEN I was sponsored... I was less than 5 years old that time so I'm not sure when my dad sponsored my mom and I.

Lynie. is it possible u can ask your parents this question? it should be ok. i remember i had same issue for my application.so i called CIC-M office callcentre. they told me do not worry to much. as long as u canadian citizen.even if u answer this question wrong.they can figure out your status. i remember very clearly he told me that if my parents were ALREADY canadian citizens before my birth then I am NOT naturlize canadien. natualize canadian is somebody who immigrates to canada then gets PR and then receives canadian citizenships. but in ur case when u was born in philipines to canadian parents. u automatically also canadian that is if ur father reports to canada embassy and then they issue u canada passport in philipines. this is what i think they do. my friend is marocaine and he also marry with gilr from philipines in montreal canada. they have 1 year old daugther now

I am not trying to stir anything up here....
I am genuinely interested... For what reason would you need/want to see pictures of those buildings?
I cant be the only one wondering why.
I remember when we got married we took pictures in Las Vegas of us getting our marriage certificate at the country clerks office but we were in the pictures. Any of those places I would only take a picture of if we were in it and to remember...

I know, strange right? My guess is that in Morocco there is really only one or two places to complete each step, and perhaps he thought those heading to Morocco to marry their spouses might find it useful? just my guess, LOL! Lynn
