Can anyone tell me what an Adul ceremony is? and it is recognised as a legal marriage for immigration purposes?
aduls are like priests who write ur mariage contract. it is 100% legal accepted in canada. u only need to get it translated to french or englich by certified moroccan translator with his stamps. are u wanting mariage in moroco? this is a morocan thread. were u looking for something else?? yusuf

Thank you for helping me understand. I am trying to help a friend. Her spouse is in Morocco and she is here pregnant after visiting him. I want to make sure the marriage was "official" in the eyes of CIC befor looking more into his immigration to Canada. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Janadian, The marriage process is often a long process when it comes to mixed marriages (Canadian/Moroccan) and the Aduls (the Marriage Judges) is usually the the last stage of the entire process. Once they write up a marriage contract and hand you a certified Arabic copy - then that is all you will need. Much cheaper to get it translated in Morocco than Canada but your friend in Canada will need to submit an officially translated copy (either french or English) as part of the Sponsorship Application process. I do hope that the pregnancy will help to expedite the process. Please let her know to definitley make mention of that when applying.

As long as the marriage is legal in the country of origin, then it is recognized by CIC assuming that one of the spouses is NOT under the age of 18.

Hello All,
My wife and I have some great news – She received her Visa and Confirmation of PR papers today.
She called me at 4:58 am this morning to tell me she received her visa and at first I thought I was dreaming but then my 5 a.m. alarm went off and I knew it was the real deal.
I want to thank everybody for their support, prayer and reassurances - the day for her could not have gone easier.
She showed up at the embassy and lined up. A representative came out and split the crowd into 2 groups - Student Group and Immigration Group (approx 20 people, almost 50/50 male/female ratio and some were there under Family Class, some for Skilled Workers)
The Immigration group lined up and then one by one they approached the desk, handed their passport and Immigration file number and then passed out another door. Once the entire group had handed in their passports, they were escorted to a large room and shown a 50 min documentary on Canada.
After the documentary, another representative came in with passports, Confirmations of PR and the original application documents and handed everything back. Basically within 1.5 hours everything was done. For the most part, everybody pretty much kept to themselves and spoke very little so there was little opportunity for my wife to get to know some of the other lucky folks.
So to recap for those are interested in timelines:
Dec 07 2009: Shipped Application to CPC-Mississauga using next day Puralotor service. Dec 08 2009: Application Arrives in CPC-Mississauga Jan 05 2010: Decision Made on Sponsor Application and file to be sent to Rabat Jan 20 2010: Rabat receives application and begins processing. (Jun 06 2010: My wife receives a call to come in on the 23rd of June to the Embassy) Wednesday Jun 23 2010: Receives her Visa (no interview)
It seems like Rabat is going on overdrive and a pray and hope that everybody's case is dealt with quickly and with success.
The next phase will be - What happens after she lands? But I have some time for that. For now, my wife and I just want to rejoice at the good news.
Talk to you soon
Regards,
Irfan
