I have applied as a skilled worker in Jan.2010 And I will be receiving visa soon. Now the question is that I want to sponsor my brother under family sponsorship category in future and in November 2012 he will turn to 18.

As per the cic website one can not sponsor brother or sister older than 18 years. So, is it at the time of application or At the time of visa issuance?Huh

You realize he has to be an orphan right? to sponsor him.  Also you have to meet the Low Income Cut off figure with funds from Canadian sources after you "land"

He is my real brother. And as per my knowledge once I get the pr card I can sponsor him if his age is less than 18.

Correct me if I am wrong..

An orphan doesn't mean he is not your real brother it just means he has no living guardian

but please see below as per CIC website

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/relatives-apply-who.asp

Who can be sponsored
You can sponsor:

parents
grandparents
brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship

another relative of any age or relationship but only under specific conditions (see Note below)
accompanying relatives of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent children).
Note: you can sponsor one relative regardless of age or relationship only if you do not have a living spouse or common-law partner, conjugal partner, a son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class, and you do not have any relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or registered as an Indian under the Indian Act.

Who cannot be sponsored
Other relatives, such as brothers and sisters over 18, or adult independent children cannot be sponsored. However, if they apply to immigrate under the Skilled Worker Class, they may get extra points for adaptability for having a relative in Canada.

Thank you for the explanation, so if I have a brother<18 yrs and my parents are taking care of him then I can not sponsor under family visa, right??

I see that but his brother is not an orphan so even tho he is under 18 he would need to sponsor his parents and add his little brother on

Yep, so I don't suppose it matters.

He could sponsor his parents and include the brother as a dependant child - (oh yeah, you just said that Smiley)Or the brother can wait and apply himself as a skilled worker in years to come.

thats tru I think waiting would be better as for mom dad and brother he would need a high LICO so maybe his brother should wait unless he is in a great job that surpasses the LICO REQUIREMENT and intend to stay in that job for the next 6+ yrs
