Has anyone been in the situation or can shed some light? I live in the USA(Currently on a J-1 visa) and landed and received my PR card in August 2007. My wife had a baby here in January 2008 and we are planning to move permanently to Ontario. Will there be any issues with taking my baby across the border and then sponsoring her from inside Canada. How lenient or strict are they in making such accomodations. I will be driving by way of Niagra border. Thanks for any insights or comments.

The baby does not need to be sponsored if you are a Canadian citizen.  Just go to the nearest Canadian consulate and register her birth abroad, she'll be a dual citizen.

I would submit the paperwork for a baby born abroad giving the child dual citizenship :)

I repeat, I am neither a US nor Canadian Citizen. I am only a recently appointed Permanent Resident!
