sponsoring a spouse : proof of income?

Dear All,

I am very new to this part of the forum so I am sorry if this question has been asked and answered before.

I am planning to sponsor my wife once I move to Canada as a permenant resident. My question is : do I need to show proof of income for the past 12 months? or that is only if dependent children are included in the application?

Firstly, you dont have to apologize for asking questions. We are all out to help each other and, and at one point, were in the same boat as you

About your question. You do not need income proof to sponsor your wife unless you have dependent children. However, you need to send them your Option C (showing your taxes and everything) along with your application. But if you do not have Option C for some reason, then you can show other proof of income in lieu of the former, because CIC would want to know how you guys intend to support yourselves in Canada.

To be brief - No You do not need a proof of income to sponsor a wife but you should not be on any social assistance or welfare.. and you have to prove that you will be able to support your self and your wife once she lands...
