Sponsoring a Friend

I am a canadian permament resident, husband is a canadian citizen.
We own our own home, cars etc. What do I have to do to sponsor a friend from the Uk to come over and move to Canada.
She has college credentials and a good resume, she owns her own home in the Uk also but wants to move over to Canada.
Right now she is here on a 6 month visitors visa and not working. What would we have to do to get her onto a working visa?
Can she change status while here??

If you have a business, you could apply for a labour market opinion (LMO) and offer her a job.

Otherwise, she has to apply on her own to immigrate.  There's no category for sponsoring 'friends.'
