I sponsered my Parents and my younger brother (when he was under 21) in 2005 with my wife as a co-sponsor, and I was informed by the letter that the file has been sent to Islamabad office (Feb 02,2009). Since then me or my family back home haven't heard from them.

I would like to know how long this process will now take? It's been 5 years already and we have not had any response from them. We were informed that the income we showed was short by $300.00. We found out from the letter that was sent by Immigration office in Mississauga that the consultant we had hired was unauthorized personnel to carry out such task. We have explained the whole thing in the letter from an authorized immigration consultant as to why this happened and how we were fooled by an unauthorized immigration officer. Because of the negligence of the unauthorized immigration officer, the income that we had wanted to show somehow got missed but since then our family income is more than they ask for.

I had even applied for the Visit Visa in 2008 for my parents and it came back rejected. Could you please explain what is the process or stages one has to go through once they get the file. I am hoping that my family will get their visas soon, and their grand children will get to live with them and my kids won't have to wait every year to visit them for just 3 weeks.

I need to find out first, what's taking this process so long. I am so worried about this case now.

I'm afraid that the processing time for parents in Islamabad is fairly long, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-parents.asp

While that is bad news meaning you probably have to wait another year or more before it is through, it is also a bit of good news because while you are waiting, at least you have not been refused.

Imina - are you sure they are processing the application? If your income was insufficient at the beginning, and they sent you a letter about that, usually that means you are not eligible to sponsor. Try ordering your CAIPS notes to see what is going on.
