I have 2 questions & I hope to answer me from your experience ,,,Thanks in advance.

Me, My wife & my daughter became a PR on Oct-2010 . my wife & my Daughter went back to Egypt with my Daughter . My child was born on Jan-2011 in Egypt. ( I am residing in Canada since Landing till now )

I have already applied to sponsor my child & the applications approved & was sent to Egypt Office for PR processing .

My Questions :

1- how long does it take to finalize my dependent child PR ? == > CIC status : "Egypt office received the PR application on 15-July-2011".

2- can I apply for the Canada child benefits for my child although he didn't become PR ? ==> i am already receiving the Child benefits for my daughter .

Thank you very much for you help

It is not supposed to take very long for young children, given that they have no background and no criminal record to check.  Since you are already at "In process" I doubt it will be months and months more before everything is finalised.  When exactly is up to CIC-Cairo.

I am not certain about applying for benefits before the child is a PR.  You should wait until the PR process is complete before doing anything of that nature.  It is possible that whoever manages these processes might make your benefits retroactive based on the child's age once you apply after he/she is PR and landed, I don't know.  I don't, however, think it is exactly legal to claim benefits for someone not yet entitled to them.
