Hi everyone, I am new on this site and sorry If I ask questions that already has been questioned/answered!

I do hope someone can help me!

I am thinking of immigrate to Canada with my 15 year old son (who is now in Jr high school)
next year. Since I am a reg. nurse I have been in contact with CNO (College of nurses/Ontario)
and have been advised to pay an application fee and to send my papers back to them for further
information and later on, doing the CRNE test in Canada. I guess I have to do the IELT later on as well..?

My question is: is it wise to go there (Toronto) and do the test BEFORE I apply for immigration (will probably apply
through sponsorship by my future common-law and not as skilled worker).
I.e. will the fact that I have been doing the CRNE test for nurses BEFORE I apply, speed up with the immigration application? May I apply for a job while being in Canada without work permit (and the test done) and should a work offer speed up the progress..?
I may be in the country for 6 months without visa..can I apply for work permit while I am in Canada or should I do that from my country?
Does it make any difference? What about my son..he will probably not have the right to enter High school in Canada until I get the immigration finalized? How about the right to use health care (OHIP?)..

A lot of questions, I know. Really grateful if someone may be able to reply! Thank you!  Smiley

I can't answer all of your questions - but will answer whatever I can.

As visitors, neither you nor your son will have health care coverage. You should purchase private health insurance to cover both of you for emergencies. And you're absolutely correct - your son will not be able to attend school as a visitor. To attend school, he will need a study permit and you will also have to pay tuition fees (I believe tuition is somewhere around $10-$12K per year?).

You will have to do IELTS sooner or later if you plan to apply for PR as a skilled worker (however you will NOT need IELTS if you are sponsored as a spouse/common law partner). I believe the results are good for two years.

In order to apply for a work permit, you will need an approved LMO (labour market opinion) first. Your employer will have to apply for the LMO and will have to prove they couldn't find a Canadian citizen/PR to hire for the role.

Just to make sure I explained things clearly...

If you are sponsored by your common law partner through family class (I assume your partner is a Canadian citizen or PR) - then you don't need IELTS. IELTS has never been a requirement for people being sponsored via family class.

If you apply via a skilled worker class, then you'll need IELTS.

Thatīs good to know, since I guess my English skills are quite good..still find it odd
that being sponsored by family (Canadian citizen) you donīt need to prove your English skills..
but not complaining at all!  Smiley

Hi,

I'm RN and I passed the CRPN of BC, psychiatric nurse

do u think after I got the registration with visa is the best to apply. CEC? or skilled worker visa.

something that I will get faster. I didn't find a job offer cos they ask for work visa or PR

I'm from Scandinavia too. did u pass the CRNE?

regards

Hi!

I havenīt been doing the test yet..will send my papers To CNO soon. In fact I am not going to apply for immigration before
me and my darling are being wed and I am applying from outland. I guess after that it will be easier to apply (sponsorship) when being married. We decided to get married a little bit earlier because of that since we were going to anyway. And I am so HAPPY! Smiley

Did you do any rehearsal before the test, i.e. read any of those test books you can buy on the internet? How did you find the test?

I have been working most at medical wards so I guess thatīs where I am going to search for in Toronto..but would be fun to work somewhere else to, maybe at surgical or emergency. I am sorry I cannot help you with your questions about the PR but hopefully you will found someone else to answer you. WHEN everything is done, I may be able to help you but not at this point.

Pls let me know how you succeeded!
