Hi
Hello everybody! I hope you're having a wonderful day!!
I'll dive right on in...
The love of my life is a resident and student in Canada, BC. She currently has a few more years of school and I am currently finishing up school from the USA (will be finished come december.)
I am a broadcasting (mass communications) major and plan to further my career in this field after school ends.
I am currently looking at several canadian job searches that would allow me to work in some sort of broadcasting TV station, movie editing, solo work, and or radio broadcasting. I'm not picky I just need some work to hold me over while I am in Canada to cover rent etc.
My question is...
How likely would it be for me to get a visitor pass to come stay in Canada for a few years, work, be with the love of my life and then after she finishes school simply move back to America and go from there.
I have no dire plans to become a permanent resident of Canada and I do plan to leave after my girlfriend finishes school.
What do you guys think about this? Do I have any actual chance of completing this? I have submitted a form already to see if i qualify for a "green card" in Canada.
If there are any tips or concerns just let me know please!
Thanks!
1. Sorry to burst your bubble, but your plan really doesn't have much chance of working.
2. To work in Canada you need a work permit, and employer would to apply to HRSDC after advertising the position for 2 weeks on the job bank. Then they have to demonstrate that there are no Canadians/Permanent residents available for the position and that you are the most qualified. As you basically have no experience, it is unlikely to be approved.
3. You probably could visit Canada for up to 6 months initially, but could not work and would have to demonstrate sufficient funds to maintain yourself.
