Sorry I am annoying..

Hi there,

I am sorry but I am overwhelmed right now by the excess of proofs I need to print etc. Me and my wife had a lot of chatting sessions since 2007, but I can only go back to May 2008 in my logs. I have a couple e-mails from 2007 but no chat logs? Is it bad? We mostly never send e-mails but chat.

How do you guys print your chat sessions? Do you just print one conversation per month? Per week? how do you guys do that? Will they say there is a hole between 2007 and 2008 if I put couple emails from 2007 until May 2008?

ok, the problem is we have been technically official since december of last year...but we were in a love relation since august but not officially, will the IO think it's weird to see " i love you " and all before the december date???

Well, that's not entirely true - you do want to try to document, as much as possible, the development of your relationship over its entirety.  But you're a couple who has a long history and it's not always possible for people to provide proof that far back.  Sometimes we don't even know we're going to end up a couple and be applying for immigration - so provide what you can from back in 2007 . . . to show you actually go back that far . . . and then provide more of the more recent evidences.  You don't have to send them every single one of your chats or your emails.  Actually, they put more weight on phone calls and visits than they do on chats and emails - because phone and visit is more personal.  But, for example, with chat or email: couples with a lot of emails to one another would maybe print out a copy of their inbox and outbox showing the number of emails exchanged over a particular period of time . . . but they'd include only one a month or one every couple of weeks over that time for content purposes.  I don't know exactly how chat logs work because, while we chatted every night, that was years ago before there was such a thing as logs for them . . . so we had none of that.  We had phone bills and airline ticket stubs from every visit, and some cards and lots of photos.  I don't think we submitted a single email or chat.

Although my official 'relationship' date was in December, my chat logs and emails also say I love you before that date before our official date, so I wouldn't worry. In this day and age, I'm sure the CIC are used to seeing all types of things.

The thing is we met in august, had a love thing but we applied for a tourist visa for her to come to Canada, so we said we were friends to have a better chance of her getting the visa, she got it! but now, we can't really say we were bf/gf starting in august because Bogota will see in her past that she applied as a friend for a tourist visa and will say it's a fraud. So we have to say our relationship official started in december but meanwhile when we chatted from august to december, it was like we were a couple, we were a couple but we had to be friends in from of the Bogota office...

I think you should still beable to show proof of knowing each other and communicating prior to "officially declaring" your relationship started.  Its not unusual to know someone before you start dating.  My husband and I started dating in 2008 yet I've known him since 2004 and I submitted a couple photographs showing when we met in person the first time (group get together in las Vegas).  I just didn't mention that my boyfriend at that time was in the photo as well.

I don't know if the way you declared your relationship to the visa office will matter in the end.  You are married now and that is most important as a spousal sponsorship.  The relationship history is just to prove there is no fraud.

I totally agree with Kess! Besides, if you don't want them to see anything it's fine to black out some parts, or simply edit the text file and take that text out. Just choose your chat logs carefully.

I've known mamny people that have blacked out sections that were very private (pervy ) that they didn't want anyone including an IO to read!

i printed the first page of all my conversations so they can check the date but i didnt printed any of them complete.
i applied for a canada tourist visa too and i didnt mentioned my actula husband as my boyfriend back then... i believe is not going to be a problem i already got my passport request...through Bogota... just be sure to send everything that certifies you have been together since the begining... if you dont have your chats only few mails you can explain that you lost that part of the information but if you have anything pistures gifts even mail letter or presents sent by mail take a picture of them and date them in the back that could really fill the gap a little bit... thats what i did!
i am a keeper so i saved all the enevelopes of the regular mails he send me ..
