Hello all,

I can't be calm with this happening. My wife put me as her representative signing the form IMM 5476 so I could correct a spelling mistake CIC did on e-cas and the sponsor approval letter. Now, I have seen that the Visa Office abroad (in my case Colombia) will then send me AOR, PPR etc. to me instead in Canada instead to my wife in Colombia? The mail between colombia and canada is really slow and rather sucks!!!! or how is the mail sent? Through diplomatic mail to Canada and then inside Canada as regular mail?

Is this always the case or normally the representative has to ask for the documentation to be sent to where he is (office, house, etc.). Has anyone experienced this?

Please help me to be calm...

The mail is normal post, it is not routed through diplomatic mail service as far as I am aware.

In my case I had an attorney/representative and CIC still sent all documentation (AOR,PPR) directly to me and not my representative.

I had my dad listed as a representative because I'm out of Canada and its easier to contact immigration from in canada if needed but all mail still came to us.

Because I have lived in Canada for a few years while my partner put through to sponsor me Outland, I used my Canadian Mailing address knowing with great confidence that we will get any mails that are posted.

However, I have the same encounter as you because the mailing service is at snail's pace. According to what I understood at my interview, the Visa Officer explained to me that mails are first sent via diplomatic service to Canada which is then distributed by Canada Post. I kinda-sorta believed this because my interview was scheduled on E-CAS and I never got the letter until 2 days before my interview. On the contrary, when I received my AOR from my VO at Port of Spain the envelope had regular postage stamps. It gets confusing and frustrating.

As per instructions following the next steps that should be taken after my interview .... it's already been almost 6 months and counting and still no letters or correspondence from my VO. My interview was approved, etc. I think I have given up trying to get in contact with my VO... therefore, I will just sit back, relax and wait for whenever that letter comes.

So in all, it's not because I signed as a representative that the documentation will be sent to me? but if as a representative, I asked that the documentation is sent in canada, then it will be that??

Can someone confirm this 100% so I can be calm? I'm trying to contact cic call center now..

From the immigration guide:

14. Your mailing address. This is the address we will use to mail correspondence regarding your application. Print your address in English and, if applicable, also in your own native script. If you live in China, make sure you also give your mailing address in Pinyin. Attach another sheet of paper if you need more space. If you decide to appoint a Canadian representative to act on your behalf and wish to have any communication relating to your application sent to him or her, write “see form IMM 5476” in box 14. Complete, sign and attach form IMM 5476, Use of a Representative.

SO, you can have a representative and not wanting him to get all the communications. My wife did not put See form IMM 5476, she put her address there...so I think all the communication will go to her home:) nice
