Son going back to University, is he dependent?

My son is going back to the university to do his masters beginning next year after finishing his degree 2 years ago. His father is going to support him financially. I mentioned this in my letter I submitted with my applications. Is this going to make him my dependent? Will this affect my application? I am separated from his father 3 years now and am not officially divorced. Reason is he is not giving me one and I am in no financial position to engage a lawyer to do it for me. It will be costly if the divorce drags because we have properties bought during our marriage and he thinks I don't deserve half of it.

He would be dependent if: 1- He is under 22 years of age; or 2- He is enrolled in university full-time since before turning 22; or 3- he depends financially from you because of a medical condition.

Otherwise he is not considered dependent. Double check with the OP manuals to be sure.
