Hi,

I am 6 yrs of experienced Software Engineer, which planing to put PR file for coming year (2011-12).

I have some doubts:
- Is CIC stop collecting PR file for Software Engineer?
- Is it feasible for me to apply for Canada PR this year under category (NOC-2173) ?

I am waiting for your positive response. Thanks in advance.

Thanks

Please note that CIC removed the last of the IT-related occupations (Software Manager NOC 0213) last June 2010. NOC 2173 is not on the in-demand list, therefore you cannot apply as Federal Skilled Worker Category 1.

You may apply as Category 2 if you can secure a job offer - either by working in Canada under a temporary work permit supported by a goverment-approved LMO (Labour Market Opinion), or by getting an AEO (Arranged Employment Offer) in which case the employer will wait for your residency application to complete before you start work in Canada.

You may also want to look into the provincial nominations and see which provinces have Software Engineer as an in-demand occupation locally.

Also I would recommend attending a CIIP course after you get med requests!
