Yes - if you apply through the federal skilled worker program using an occupation that's not listed, you will definitely be rejected.

However if you can obtain a job offer in Canada, you can apply even if your occupation isn't listed.

Unfortunately none of us have any idea if or when computer related fields may be added.

If you haven't done so already, you should check out the provincial immigration programs. You might qualify under one of those.

Yes - if you apply through the federal skilled worker program using an occupation that's not listed, you will definitely be rejected.

However if you can obtain a job offer in Canada, you can apply even if your occupation isn't listed.

That's right - if you can secure a job offer, supported by a HRDSC-approved LMO (Labour Market Opinion) then you can begin working in Canada under a temporary work permit and apply under Federal Skilled Worker Category 2. The employer has to obtain the LMO by proving to HRDSC that they have advertised the job for at least 2 weeks in the past 3 months without a suitable Canadian being found.

Strangely, although IT is not currently recognised as an in-demand occupation at Federal level, it is recognised as an in-demand occupation in most provinces.

You could therefore look at Provincial Nomination. You still have to secure a job offer, but the Province can sponsor you which means you don't have to go through the hassle of the employer getting an LMO.

Right wayne, but its hard to get LMO AEO this days.
even work permit and FSW2 category tooks long time to get visa. who will wait for on FSW2 or work permit will issue after 6 or 10months? I am in the USA , I also tried to get job offer, I got some calls but they want PR or PR visa issued and waiting for landing process.
try your luck man to get job offer if you get it.
Best luck.

one more important that no one can predict that IT NOC will be added in future or not. so please don't guess anything just follow current NOC code and try to look out back here in this forum or on cic website on or after 1 july 2012 (may be IT will back!!!! but BIG Huh?)

Last year and this year NOC is same 29 NOC, they just reduced the number of CAP.
you can argue here but not to the CIC.
Many of us waiting for visa we already applied but we can't do anything at this point due to huge back log (as per CIC). many people also waiting for this IT category, but canadian labour market says no more IT jobs (please no argument on this labour market stuffs here).
So just wait and watch for next update or get study visa of canada or work permit to enter in Canada and file PR in future.
