It's a personal decision. It shouldn't matter what other people think - you should do what's in your own interest.

I just saw the notcanada.com website... good stuff. I mean, lots of effort and illustrates a real problem.
But I couldn't understand its purpose very well... are they trying to convice potential immigrants not to go to Canada, or Canadians to "recognize immigrant credentials"?
The videos and a quick look seems like it's a movement to help Canadians be a little less hard headed and recognize immigrant credentials - because that IS a problem. But the site's name, "not canada"?... why go through all that effort just to tell people not to go there?

Quite simple, the choice is yours to go to Canada or not. Afterall there are people living Canada for another country.

If you are earning a descent income in your country don't ever even think of coming to this hell. I migrated to this hell in May 2007 committed the biggest blunder of life, spent my entire life's earning on consultants and paying other fees to the Candain Govt. just to fulfill my Canadian dreams. Its a sham democracy here. All immigrant workers are treated like slaves at work place Whole your life you would be paying for your mortgages. There is no job security. Almost half your salary goes in taxes. Housing and rent is a loot here. Free health services is just a slogan.

Sorry to hear you committed a blunder by coming to Canada.
Canada doesn't claim to have a true democracy. It's a parliamentary democracy. If you want something closer to democracy, try Switzerland.
I'm not sure what your definition of a slave is. If the definition is that someone has to work most of his life to pay a mortgage, then you have a different definition of slave than I do.
Yes, there's no job security. All work is "at will," meaning that you can leave at any time, and the employer can fire you at any time. When you can't leave, that's called "slavery." When the employer can't fire you no matter how poorly you perform, that's called inefficiency (leading to bankruptcy.)
Taxes are higher than some other countries, but not all. And in Canada they have been falling recently.
Housing and rent are expensive because the population is growing (immigration) but the land mass stays the same. I'm sure if you were a property owner, you would raise the rent to keep up with inflation and the demand for living space.
Health services are not free; they are a pre-paid benefit. That means you pay a set amount up-front, and are treated when a need arises.
Perhaps you would be happier moving to another country with a true democracy, where immigrants are treated equally, where you can work and buy a house in a short period of time, where you have job security, where you pay no taxes, where housing and rent are cheap, and where health care is free. Actually, if you find such a place, let me know and I'll go with you.

Thaiguy hi,i also visited the notcanada.com and was not too glad with what i saw there, but hey...people still go there and people live there. On that note,i decided to apply. Something in your post caught my attention. Are you saying that immigrants are poorly treated there? Is the health thing you talked about different from the tax? thanks so much, expecting reply.

Hi Thai guy,
Your response was interesting but not based on reality. I have seen cases here where the employer has brought employees on 2 years work permit but is not giving them work even for 3 hours a day. These young girls & boys cannot even pay for their monthly rent and are not allowed to work for any other employer. You very rightly said that I should look for another country. I would have if my entire life's saving was not spent on coming to Canada. I am very descently employed and on PR status but the fact is that the Govt. here hardly cares for immigrants. The point system is absurd since they don't recognise your degrees or work experience here. Go to Canada immigration or any other Govt. sites their claim of free education, free health service, are all empty slogans.

Atul, would you care to point out exactly what I said that wasn't based in reality?
And try to stick to what I actually said - not what you think I meant.

Taxes are paid as a percentage of your income, on sales, on property owned, etc. Medical care is a separate deal. In BC (where I'm living), all residents are required to enroll in provincial healthcare. For us (2 people), it came to about $570 for 6 months. I'm still new to the system, but I believe doctor visits are "free" and prescription meds probably cost a small amount. This kind of system is commonly known as "prepaid medical care." It is cheaper than what I had in the U.S., but the services are probably less than what I would have gotten in the U.S.
