SINP work permit help needed!!

i asked this question  before but didnt got much specific reply.  i got SINP Skilled worker approval and now planning to apply for work permit to CIC Nd,   my problem is  i was student in canada and i overstayed on my post graduation work permit, i wasnt deported though, i left canada bymyself unnoticed.
       my consultant in regina  says that  there  higher possibility of refusal on my work permit since i overstayed it. i am really confused, should i go forward and apply for work permit? or i should just apply for PR?  if my work permit  get refusal will it have any detrimental effect on my PR application?

hello friends,
                      finally i got work permit, i am only posting this so someone can get some guidence in similar situation.  i overstayed in canada on workpermit for 10 months n then voluntarily left country. after 2 yrs i applied for SINP, got approval and now based on that, i got work permit:)
