No, you won't meet the minimum income requirements.  Sorry.

If your spouse or common-law partner co-signs for you, your incomes will both be counted to meet the income requirements.  You would have to make $45,662 a year to be considered enough for 5 people, that's you, your spouse, your kid and your parents.  You can see that table at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5196E10.asp and it's called Table 4.  They will go by last years tax info.

Your sisters can not help you.

No, unless they are single under 18 and orphans, unless you live in Alberta, Sask, Manitoba, which have special programs.

You can always try, together with your sisters and ex-husband, to write a letter in support of their temporary resident visa (visitor's status) through the Canadian Embassy abroad. Please note that your sisters, provided they are eligible, may also sponsor your parents for their permanent resident status.

Excuse me, her sisters are not PR card holders, so they cannot sponsor anyone.

Skokica: With regard to Shy's sisters my comment is very clear: "provided they are eligible". Perhaps, while working in Canada, they might be already in process to receive their PR under CEC or live-in-caregiver program and become eligible for sponsorship of their parents within next several months. As you may agree with me Shy, being in this difficult for her situation, needs to know all her options.

is it necessary for someone to work in Canada for a year to file the sponsorship for a parent (mother)? If a PR status person is a housewife and her spouse has enough income to support both family and his mother-in-law, is it possible to file the application for a parent?
thank you

No, not necessary to work for a year.
Yes, if the spouse is willing to sign as a co-signer and makes enough money according to the LICO.  Here's the link to do the calculations.  Number of people is EVERYBODY in the household + number of people being sponsored.

thank you for your reply, rjessome.
do you think that in this case it is possible to file the application for parent sponsorship right after the PR card was issued? and what the main applicant can show as her income - just zero if she doesn't work?

Yes, the main applicant can show zero if the co-sponsor has enough income.
