still no update on my side, it has been 46 days since they started processing, I am afraid of inquiring on status as it is not recommended unless it has gone over normal times. what's everyone elses opinion? I know that the postal system is somewhat unreliable in Bangladesh. please let me know what u think

you can provide all the evidence you want, there is no limit. the fact the matter is they may still suspect for some reason the marriage is a fraud just because of past incidents where people abused the immigration system. it is terrible that people abuse the immigration system is such way and people like us have to pay the consequences. I think there should be some kind of harsh penalty for those who do break the law and fake their marriage.

My Timeline - I filed our case in May, I was approved as a Sponsor and the case was sent to Singapore in June, since then all I know is what they say on the website “We started processing your application on June, 2010.”

I know some people did get their PPR in 5 months of it being sent to Singapore. Our case is simple so I'm hoping everything will go well. I sure hope and pray my wife can be here in Canada for Christmas! That would be the best Christmas gift I could ever receive.

My wife is Thai, I sent the medical paper the doctor gave her with the application. I have not had any contact with Singapore other then what it says on the website... that they are working on the case since June.

Good day Sadatul,

We didn't use a lawyer, we did it all ourselves, I think if people follow the instructions carefully and use this site for help, it is really unnecessary for a lawyer, unless the case is complicated of course.

As for our proof:
We sent our marriage certificate (We got married in Canada in January 2009), about 70 pages of photos, with about 3 -7 pictures on each page with a typed description at the bottom of each page, we used microsoft word and regular paper, we didn't use photo paper or anything but we did print in colour.  The pictures basically showed us together in the Philippines the first time I visited, the Philippines again the second time I visited, our travels around the islands in Thailand and pictures of us working together (we both teach in the same school and in the same office) oh, and pictures of us together in Canada.  There are also pictures of me with her family and her with my family.  We only sent one picture of our wedding because it was so simple, only my parents, my spouse, the marriage commissioner and I were present.  We have a video of it but they don't allow us to send in videos.

I sent a copy of my passport and high lighted my travel stamps to the Philippines twice.

We sent a copy of her passport and high lighted her travel visa to Canada.

I also got my parents, two sisters, and two aunts to send letters of support of our relationship.

Both my partner and I wrote 6-8 page documents outlining our relationship, how we met, how it progressed, and the dynamics involved, I think even to the point of how we split household chores and manage our finances.

We did not send any proof of joint bank accounts because we are a same sex couple and are not allowed to have that here.  We also do not have any joint property because we are both on non-b work permits and are not allowed to own any property in Thailand.

We sent copies of our work contracts here because it states that our housing is provided for us by the school and therefore, we are residing at the same place.

As for proving that I will return home once the visa is issued, I submitted:

My enrollment letter at my university because I am working on another degree while I am here but I am running out of distance courses I can take.  If they ask for more in this area I am just going to send them a copy of my class syllabus.

I sent a letter from the military that states once I am back in Canada I will be resuming working for them in the same position I had before I left Canada.

I also sent a letter from my parents telling them that we are welcome to stay with them until we find an apartment that we both like.

As, for if I think we will be able to get the passport request before next year, I am highly doubtful, I have sort of been planning that we would get it around March, 2011.  I am hoping to be home in May next year though because my sister is getting married and my military unit wants me to take another course that begins in May.

As for your question about updates: I haven't had any, my E-CAS says "In process we started processing NAME on August 31st, 2010."

In a way I am happy that Singapore doesn't update, update and update constantly because that means they are busy working on applications.

I hope this helped.  What evidence did you guys all submit?  I wish you all the best of luck!

Hello All,
I have sponsored my parents and the file is in Singapore since Sept 2008 and the have responded my email as below:

"This year - 2010 - Singapore will assess 700 sponsored parents/grandparents (persons). Given our current caseload, the queue for initial screening is 3-1/2 years from the date of application in Singapore.
Our next contact with your mother will be to advise her accordingly after we have reviewed her case.
Please note that we will not respond to further inquiry unless it is beyond the processing timeframe as mentioned above."

I also sponsored my wife back in 2008 and it went smoothly and took 4 months including CIC process.

Hi All,
I received a letter from Singapore saying my wife's visa was approved in September, and she submitted her passport to IOM in HCM 5 weeks ago, to be sent to Singapore.   The normal processing time for return of passports is 3 to 4 weeks.

ECAS still says "in progress".

Does anyone have any experience with delays in passports being returned, or know if there are any reasons (other than Singapore being busy) why there might be a delay?

I was thinking next week I would phone if there is no news.

Thanks....

does anyone know if my wife can come to Canada on a tourist visa to visit from Bangladesh? although her sponsorship application is in process. I doubt that they would give tour visa.   still says in process,

Hi zzz..i read from some thread that visa officer wont give ur spouse a TPR ( or as u can say it as tourist visa but whatever u think its still remain same). Hence that might make ur case more complicated..My suggestion is to wait for 2 months more and hopefully we will get our PPR by that time Inshallah..Anyways u can still consult ur Lawyer to get best of advices..Let us know ur update

Mine still shoiwng in process here on e-cas.. Embarrassed

Hi victorialad  did u ever saw any update regarding ur medical on e-cas? I have heard they usually update it one month prior to request for a PPR.

BTW how many months Singapore took to send ur PPR... Plz let us know ur timeline with e-cas update in a bit details. coz My application started processing in Singapore since sept 23 2010. since then i havent heard anything from them.
