Did any of you apply for a visit visa while your application for premanent residence was under processing? We got married in April, 2011 and our first wedding anniversary is almost there. My husband wants to visit me on the anniversary. I want him to come too but then we are worried if this will have any negative effect on his application for permanent residence in any way. I was wondering if he should apply for a TRV at this point. What is his chance of getting a visa? Any suggestions ? Thanks.

My wife applied for TRV, after that her PR application status been changed to in process on the same week. Then she withdrawn her VISA application from CHC Dhaka.
VISA application and PR application two different things, i believe it will not effect as long as you provide correct information. According to visa guildline  "An intention by a foreign national to become a permanent resident does not preclude them from becoming a temporary resident if the officer is satisfied that they will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for their stay" It is better to try for TRV even though he may have lower chances for getting it.

I applied sept 2007 and approved 25jan2012. File send to Singapore . Nothing from there.

Singapore has been allocated much lower than the inventory whereas other visa offices have been allocated higher than or close to current inventory. Furthermore CPC-Canada (I believe CPP-Ottawa) has been allocated 15000. From some forum and friend I came to know that CPP-Ottawa receive file from 2008 applicant and already asked for medical and police certificate. Whereas my file just send to Singapore even though I applied in 2007 (as per CIC website wait time is 44 month).Current distribution shows I have to wait at least two years for my file to be processed. CPP-Ottawa is moving faster and more visa target. People applied after one year will get visa one year before me. It is totally Discriminatory and unfair !!!!!!!!

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your input. I am very happy to see that both of you are going to be reunited  soon. Congratulations!

From what I have read in this forum, there are both good news and bad news about a TRV. Can't make up the mind but I agree with you that it's better to give it a try.

Did your wife's application status ever changed to "Medical results have been received" ? Or, it stayed "Application received" throughout the process and then changed to "In process" without ever going to medical results. Did you submit all notarized copies or just regular photocopies of all required documents? Thanks.

Hi Pandora, when did the status change to in process? We have very similar timelines, I submitted my application on July 19th, 2011 as well.
It has been showing in process since Feb 16. When I have noticed most people applied around my time line was receiving updates. Then I have compiled more new documents such as proof of my last visit in Dhaka, more pictures , travel documents, hotel receipts, phone log etc as a proof of continuation my relationship and a cover letter. Within a week Singapore VO received these documents my status has been changed to ' in process'. I hope this information will help in your situation.

No I did not sent them notarized copy, photo copies only ( as per check list)
Yes, her medical results have been received and got a letter to submit her passport to CHC Dhaka.
Hopefully she will be joining me in April...

Yes, I wrote to them on a number of occassions and they responded to 50% of my mails. I wrote to them at
<singapore-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca> and they responded in about 3 to 4 days and on one occassion they responded within 24 hours. You can also try <https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=singapore> but I never wrote to them at this address. Thanks and wish you all the best.
