I noticed that a lot of people who sent their applications to Ontario on July 30th that arrived by August 3rd or 4th are already approved in Ontario. Mine arrived around August 4th and I have not heard anything yet. I see they already started approving people August 8th onwards which is after me. Does this mean my sponsorship application may be rejected or that something else is wrong? The marriage is very legitimate and I lived in the country where my spouse resides for about a year and it was not an online relationship and I included a lot of supporting evidence. I am in a panic as every day I wait for the mail now that the website says they are working on August 8th onwards applications.

I have a decent job and included all the docs and paid all the fees... what could be the delay? Do some applications just take much longer? Should I try to get in touch with them? Does anyone know what could cause such delays in the processing centre?

Some just take longer.  There could be individual circumstances that cause approval of the sponsor to take longer than the stated time on the website.

You may call the Call Centre, they might be able to give you an idea of the progress on yours.

Hello,

It is not a problem if you meet online but I know that people said those who met online had to prove the legitimacy of their relationship a bit more (especially if they only met once or twice before getting married etc).

Lots of people had success. Don't worry.
