A new noc job list is expected in coming july'11. I do fit in one of the 28 mandatory professions but not comfortably, like i am a mechanical engineer but have performed exactly the same job responsibilities as listed against "supervisor" (one of the 28 mandatory professions against which i can apply with bit of clarification to CIC). Secondly there is no way other than just a rough guess (seeing the last published list of the number of applicants who have applied against a particular profession) that my profession might not have come under cap yet.But again its just a guess and no definite numbers available. How about keeping the application ready and wait until the new list gets released. Would it be a wise strategy !!

im not an expert but in my opinion if you have the same job responsibilities that should count
it is the job responsibilities that matter not the title so go for it

Sounds logical when you say its not the title but infact the job responsibilities that matter but what if i get an experience letter from my company that usually states less about the job responsibilities and puts the title you have worked under boldly !!

First try to get a experience letter and based on that you can even request your employer to mention your responsibilies..then decide whether to go with that letter or not.....do not assume "what if" and miss the oppurtunity.

If you can make an appointment to discuss your reference letter with your manager it would be a good idea to take in a copy of the Job Duties of the NOC you are applying for.  With that information it might make it easier for your manager to emphasize the aspects of your job that fit that NOC.  It cannot hurt.
