share my situation

My work permit expire last september 2011 but i submitted my application for owp and pr october 2010.i'm confused if i will renew my work permit or not but my friend told me that no need to renew because you submit your application for owp and pr and i am still working in the same employer.but i still renew my work permit last july and i received my new work permit yesterday.my problem is the remarks in my work permit written like this temporary resident status maintained as per R183(6).does anyone knows what does this mean?
