I noticed that there doesn't seem to be very much information about Seoul. So, please provide your timeline for Seoul, starting from you AOR.

Seoul received our application for processing on June 22, 2011
(we needed further medical information, which was sent, missing, and found).
We saw "Medical Results Received" message on Oct. 31/2011

Hi , we just went through Seoul;

In process at Seoul/AOR -Oct 25/2010
Request for Info - Oct 2, 2011 (info already supplied with the original application, but we updated and gave it again)
Passport request - Nov 2, 2011
Passport return with visa - Dec ?/2011 (can't remember exact date).  We had a twist to our application so do not take our time as normal.  I was expecting more than 8 months but ended up at one year.  (I believe our file is solely responsible for raising the average processing time from 7 months to 8 months.)

A few things we noted: 1) they did not respond to email requests for status updates after we passed the normal processing period; 2) they only corresponded by regular post not email so it took at least 2 weeks for their letters to arrive; 3) on the good side, once we sent in the additional info request they turned around and sent the passport request in 1 day and they also turned around the passport with visa in a couple of days (but of course everything came by mail so it added a month of transit time).
In addition they gave our medical a two year expiration period so we did not have to redo the medical (I believe this is because it was done in Canada and we remained in Canada throughout the application)

Great news! Congratulations on finally finishing the application process. It's good to know that they do everything by regular mail, I don't think we've actually received anything by mail, from the Seoul office. But, they're very good at calling and returning phone calls. We've found the Seoul office to be fairly efficient so far. Let's hope it keeps up.
