we're new here.. we need suggestions for our upcoming immigration interview..

I applied under federal skilled worker and I included my common law partner on my application. Just last week, VO called at home and on my cellphone and I missed it. They then send me an email stating that me and my partner is scheduled for interview at the visa office. We need to bring additional evidences. We are having a hard time looking for additional documents needed for the interview because they already have our ID's stating our address, Bank statements & bank certificates (joint accounts), all clearances, proof of billing, pictures, affidavits from parents&friends. We're now on our 4th year and have been co-habiting for 3yrs now.

1. What possible questions would the IO will ask?
2. What additional evidences we can provide?
3. Is it okay to get married before the interview or continue with the common-law status and show the IO marriage license instead?
4. tips to survive the interview PLEASE

Thank you. We really need help.

Hi. Just relax on your interview and be confident na talagang true relationship nyo. We already finished our interview last aug lng. So ganun din ung pinapadala sa amin. Meron k na ba submit sa kanila na avidavit of two disinterested person? Neighbor nyo na magpapatunay na nagsasama kayo for years sa isang bahay. The questions of vo is basically on CLPship nyo ng partner nyo so dapat consistent ang mga sagot nyo. Goodluck sa interview. Kaya nyo yan!

Co-habitation requirements for common-law or same-sex partners in the Philippines can be proven by the following (but not excluding) documents:

  • Bank Statement/Credit Card Statement shared by you and your partner.  The name of the account should be very clear that both of you are the named account holders.
  • Letters (from businesses is preferred) addresses to either or both of you to the same address.  Utilities bills, phone bills, credit card bills, etc.
  • Insurance (naming your partner as a beneficiary).  But if you're not married this might not even be possible in the Philippines.
  • Pictures through the years, proving you have intimate relationship with your partner.  (Not too intimate, I hope).
  • If you are living in the same apartment, although not common in the Philippines, ask your landlord/lady to sign a contract of lease naming both you and your partner as the leasee.  You can ante-date this to the time you moved to the place (if you don't have it).
  • I'm not sure if it is possible (but might worth a shot) to get signed affidavit from people who do not benefit to the relationship declaring that you were known to them as couples.
  • If you both of you own a real estate, you can provide them with a cooy of the TCT naming both of you as owners of the property.
  • If both of you travels together either via airplane or ship on a vacation, you can also include the tickets or boarding passes you had with your names.  But this document alone can stand as proof of relationship.  It can only prove that you do spend time together but will help in proving commitment.

Please note that all of these documents should be dated at least 1 year from the time you've filed your application.  The requirement is 1 year co-habitation at the time you filed your application.

I hope this info helps.
