And I responded:
Why did you send them police certificates after you submitted application without them requesting it? My husband got a letter from teh local police department in kiwi-land saying he has no record, do you thik that is suffice?

What proofs did you send? Were they outside of the checklist we filled out in the sponsorship application?

Sorry I went through the checklist and everything very meticulously, and hope I didn't miss anything Smiley Thanks for your time!

Can anyone help me? Why would I send additional documents without them asking for it? I just want to make sure I"m not missing anything Sad

Proof of staying in contact and genuine relationship. It helps them decide if you are a genuine couple. Send emails/Skype/Fring/MSN convo/Call logs from phone/call logs from anything else you use/yahoo/Ecards/ Cards/ Gifts/ Recipets of outings or sending gifts overseas/documents from work for beneficiary  whatever else you can think of to show that you are real couple.

I actually sent a few more things that I thought of after we had originally sent the original package - a few more bills with both our names on them, cards from our wedding, a few more photos, things like that. I thought it wouldn't hurt to send them just in case.

I think usually what people are talking about are further documents that the VO requests though. So if you haven't been asked for anything don't worry about it!

some people didn't include some papers with their original app since they might not have it in hand or missed it at that time. Therefore, they'll send the additional paper after their app in processing because it might help saving some time or to make the app more "stronger"...

I sent my son's (he's non-accompany family member and not in Canada now) medical prove several weeks ago because I didn't have that when I applied and I don't really want to waste another 2-3 weeks even months to wait for CIC requiring it.

You mentioned about having a letter from NZ? Hmm...it's new to me. Because I applied Criminal Record from NZ too since I've stayed there for 1 yr,  and they sent it directly to CIC and it was received by CIC around Sept 2010, no one has ever contacted with me.

Here is the info about how to get New Zealand Criminal Record for applicant. I actually applied twice. The first time I checked the NZ police website and sent my application to New Zealand Ministry of Justice. However, it's not the one CIC wants. So I followed the CIC website and did it again.

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/australia-australie/visas/police_australian-australie_police.aspx?lang=eng&view=d

Hope it helps..

Good luck to everyone...

Hi, I got it from CIC website where teaches people how to get the criminal record from different country

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/index.asp

And it's same here, I filled a form and sent it to NZ as I mentioned before but later I noticed that CIC does NOT want that one  Undecided
so if you did the same thing (apply from New Zealand Ministry of Justice) as me then I'll strongly suggest you following CIC's rule and apply the other one.

HI

I use this one --> http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/australia-australie/assets/pdfs/instructions_police_NZ-en.pdf

I just noticed that they changed a little bit rules. CIC used to require the applicant sending it to NZ but now they want applicant send it with your application. I don't know if you're applying inland or outland and if your husband has his client number yet ? If your husband has the client number then fill it asap and send it to CIC...you can get this info on the pdf page 2

my example-- I was studying in Auckland for 1 yr, so I provided this PDF with 1 copy of my NZ student visa and the first page of my passport ( the page has your photo..) but I don't know what your husband will need, so please read it carefully

and NO...you don't need to fill the one (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/PC_LetterA_e.pdf) it's for people who need to show it to get criminal record in some countries but it's not for your story.

Quick question about additional documents.

If we want to send additional proofs without being asked by the VO, do we send them to our VO overseas or do we send them to Mississauga?

Thanks.
