I asked a question in a related post, but it was tangential to the main theme, and is probably getting lost as we speak.

The question is, when an applicant submits a second medical, how does CIC or the Visa Office know? By this time, is the applicant in communication with a specific Visa Officer, and a quick email will do?

Not sure I really understand what you are asking. But  CIC would certainly know because the 2nd medical is typically requested by the visa office and they typically give you a specific form that you have to take with you to the DMP to get the 2nd medical done. You would not be in contact with a specific visa officer.

Thanks, Ariell.  I did not know the process.

Does the Visa Office do this requesting and sending of forms by regular mail? If so, they could reduce the wait considerably by using email, especially where the Applicant and Visa Office are far apart.

I believe it's done by regular mail unless you've provided an email address then they may send the request by email but I can't say for sure. I don't think that they would send the re-do form as an attachment but that's just a guess as it's more likely that the email will not get to the applicant. I've heard of cases where email has  been redirected to a SPAM folder so the request is lost so not everyone likes getting info. by email and of course it's not a secure form of communication. In theory they should not even be using it.

BTW, I thought that you hadn't even sent in your application yet. Why are you already thinking about a 2nd medical request? That's why I was kind of confused.

You're right: I haven't submitted it yet.  Just planning, and anticipating a processing period of about a year.  If it is less, I'll be nicely surprised.

You pay close attention; I'll have to make sure I'm consistent. :-)
