Hello, I had worked in Canada for 11 months in 2023 and 1 month in US. I'm assuming this would classify me as a tax resident of Canada. I will have both T4 and W2 soon. How should i go about filing tax returns?

What does getting "I94 in the Canadian passport" mean? Isn't that a separate online document automatically issued? AFAIK, there isn't any entry in Canadian passport at port of entry.

For starters, you need unused time left on H1 even to be able to transfer it.

Is there any reason to retain B1? With Canadian passport, entry is already allowed.

FYI. For Permanent residents, visa stamp had an additional annotation claiming "Canadian Permanent Resident". During in-person interviews, they used to check for the PR card even before the interview.

Canadian citizens are visa exempt and don't need H1 stamping. Just I797 + Canadian passport at port of entry.

It depends if one had any unused time left out in H1B (even if it is expired), if so transfer should be fine and being a Canadian citizen, one wouldn't need a visa stamping (Canada is visa exempt). Just need to go to port of entry with I797.

Doesn't matter and even if it comes up (highly unlikely at the port of entry) just be upfront on purpose of the trip. And do have proof of hotel, return ticket etc. All they care is if you will leave the country and will just grant B2 I-94 with 6 months validity.

Recently been on a vacation and able to pull I-94 and travel records. Not just that, the travel history shows up when querying old passport as well.

Finally, got the OCI. Thanks @abbas.pasha. It just has 6 pages, sounds like frequent travellers have to keep renewing it after all pages are used? For some reason, BLS Site was stuck in "Original documents Dispatched via courier" and was never updated for OCI delivery. Fortunately was working...

Is this still a thing? It used to be when e-Visa was suspended. Doesn't e-Visa make it easy just using Canadian passport?

Yes as its in your passport, or provide proof with Paren't passport.
