I am already in Canada as a visitor and even though my application is Outland, I am planning to process landing at the nearest CIC office. Ottawa will arrange the appointment for you with your local CIC office.

I received a request from LA VO for updated photos because, they said, my original ones had expired. And they would not release COPR without the updates. So maybe they date your photos when they receive your application.

It took me 14 weeks to get an updated FBI clearance. Really slow lately.

Thanks. I am happy that I was able to stay in Canada during the processing time by way of visitor extension visas so at least we were able to be together all this time. Nevertheless, l feel that the long delays were unnecessary and the LA VO continues to be notoriously slow and uncommunicative.

I filed my USA tax return while living here in Canada even though I did not work in Canada since I am here as a visitor only. The IRS requires that you file a return whether you work or not.

You can prepare your Canadian return on one of the many online services ( eg www.taxchopper.ca) and the USA return on the H & R Block US website

Maybe you can try doing it yourself online on the H & R Block website for a small fee. (there is even a no charge version for simple returns). I have done this the last 2 years without any issues. It was fairly straight forward .

Sounds great. I had some good news today also. LA VO called requesting an updated photo ( since the one submitted 18 months ago they say is now out-dated) and advised that they will issue my COPR docs as soon as they receive my new photo. It's a relief to know the end of this process is near...
