Is this CIC website information correct about changing employers? It says"The hours you work for your new employer will not count towards the work experience required to apply for permanent residence under the Live-in Caregiver Program." Any idea what this really means Leon...

If an employer has no need for his caregiver for six months and the caregiver finds another job with a new work permit for 6 months, can the caregiver return with his previous employer if the time on the permit with the first employer has not expired? Anybody experienced this?

Recently a few open work permits and landed immigrant status for caregivers have been issued at the same time in my area but the wait time seems to be 7 to 8 months for processing.

Report the abuse to the Labor board of the province that you are working in and seek another employer. Also report the offence to HRSDC and they will black list your employer. This will prevent the employer from getting any more LMO's approved.

When a caregiver gets a work permit renewal, he or she must send a copy of the new work permit to the Medical Service Plan in BC; otherwise a notice will be sent that coverage is no longer provided and premiums are returned.

Toronto Gal...I agree with you. What a caregiver should do is keep a daily diary of his or her activities with the employer and note any discrepancies like extra work without pay. At the end of the contract, the caregiver can always go to the labour board and report it.

You are not self employed. You are a resident. You can always call the free toll nember and ask them how to fill out the tax return after you thoroughly read the tax return guide.

A certificate is a document signed by the doctor of the employer stating that a caregiver is required for the employer and the reasons on the document why a caregiver is required.

Your employer needs a medical certificate STATING THAT A CAREGIVER IS REQUIRED for the person that you will be taking care of. The papers that were submitted only state the medical conditions. It does not say that the person requires a caregiver, does it? Some reasons why a caregiver is required...

ASk your employer to get help from his or her Member of Parliament.
