Last time my employer applied for LMO we were waiting for about 6 months but that was in ON and there was some holdup like a strike or something, and that was the reason. It's different now

I can't vouch for it, but as far as i remember, CIC says that you need to get a job offer or an employment contract. That's either or. So i guess it's not the same. In my case i asked for a contract straight away, which is what i advise you to do as well. 8)

Try avoiding agencies if possible. They will only take your money for something you can do on your own!

It is possible to find a job offer and all if you're abroad. You just have to be very patient and very tenacious. I managed to find an offer! What's my secret? Tons of different websites, calls and emails every day.

I think you can also apply for a work permit extension based on the job offer? Not sure tho, so better check with CIC.

No agents, i'm buying stuff directly from the company. My employer will be purchasing the tickets but it's my job(or at least i feel like i should do this) to find the best offer from him. I am not sure they will fully refund at all! I am sure LOT will if i return the ticket 30 days(or so)...

Unfortunately, not a citizen of a visa exempt country(Serbia). I am aware that positive LMO is not a guarantee but I cannot file an application for a work permit without it. As for the plane ticket, you'll understand in a bit. If I buy the ticket now dating May 1, which is 5 months in advance...

Thank you guys. My employer is yet to apply and I am asking because of the plane ticket. I know for a fact that embassy takes about 2 months to process the documents and issue the work permit once. I wouldn't be offended be if more people shared their timelines as well ;D

Not necessarily fake. You see, I was called by an agency from Canada saying they have an open LMO and could employ me, blah blah all genuine all okay but were asking for a lot of money, which I didn't(don't :D ) have.. Not saying your offer is genuine or not, just saying what happened to me...

Hello there. As far as I know there isn't a website you could check that. It's only your employer that can check for the LMO application status, and he/she needs to call Service Canada wherever the application has been submitted and get the info. You could call and try and explain the situation...

If I got you correctly.. they hired someone else over you, is that right? You should have thought about that earlier and try and get any kind of written evidence that they want to employ you. If you don't have that, just hope that they will still take you and apply for the LMO and all.
