Legal change of name, act of birth

Hello all, I applied for a legal change of name in Montreal. I was asked to perform an insertion of my act of birth. I cannot do that because I can't get any document from my country of origin. I was asked to hire a lawyer and ask the Superior Court of Quebec to draw a certificate of birth for...

Question Regarding Sponsoring A Russian Wife

I know that in the past many women traveled to Canada to deliver their babies here and get them the citizenship automatically. But I thought having a baby with a Canadian citizen would have proved the relationship is legit and would have made things easier, that's why I said it's weird the way...

Question Regarding Sponsoring A Russian Wife

This is weird... any baby in the world has his rights to have his mother with him. I thought that would make their chances coming to Canada 100% either as visitors or as residents.

Question Regarding Sponsoring A Russian Wife

What if we had a baby? Would he become instantly a Canadian citizen because of me being Canadian? Would she be able to get her visa more quickly?

Question Regarding Sponsoring A Russian Wife

Hello all, I'm a naturalized Canadian and I plan to go marry a girl I know for 5 years from Russia. I want to sponsor her to come to Canada, however the processing timeline for applications in Moscow is incredibly long (18 months)! I have two questions: 1. Can she come visit me while her...

    Finally a Canadian!

Because Quebecers probably have to chat and drink lot of coffee and it takes time, doing their job clearly prevent them from doing more important thing, which is drinking more coffee and having more chats. Anyway, for me the wait is finally over. ;D

    Finally a Canadian!

Simple, it's because of them the processing time went from 6-8 months to 25/30 months. If they treat immigrants like garbage then immigrants should not vote them in the elections once they become Canadians.

    Finally a Canadian!

Dear fellow members, The wait was finally over, I became a Canadian citizen recently. Came out of nowhere. As CIC agents told me that I'd be scheduled for a hearing with a judge. Since that was suspicious, I've applied for an ATIP report. The ATIP report came through email and it was stating...

Interesting information for those seeking Travel Document to enter Canada

There is something also called "certificate of identity" which even enables you to travel outside Canada if you don't have a national passport. It's meant for PR holders who for some reason don't have a national passport from their country of origin.

    Question About CJ Hearing

No, I went to my country of origin, Syria, 2 times before the war began, which I declared on my application. I have fulfilled the residency requirements for the first 4 years. I don't have a valid passport since the Canadians closed the Syrian embassy after the war started, hence I can't...

    Question About CJ Hearing

Hi all, I've been told by CIC that I have to expect an invitation to stand before a citizenship judge. Since the agent won't say any details, I have to ask for your thoughts here. 1. When do you think the decision was made to call me in front of the judge? Was it during the test/interview...

Passed the exam but received no notice for taking the oath

I have no idea... that's why I wanted to talk with CIC today. Personally I don't believe I failed in the test, but who knows?!

Passed the exam but received no notice for taking the oath

I've written my test in February too. I never heard from CIC since. Today I tried to call CIC and they either did not take the phone (after passing all required options in the automated menu) or closed the call altogether.

should we be happy just because kenny is not in immigration affairs?

I don't believe there will be much impact by change of names. They need to change the procedure execution itself. And since they're bureaucrats that respect nothing, hence they will continue to regard applicants as "nothing" too. A good strategy would be if every immigrant declared that after...

    Montreal Test to Oath Date

My test was in February and since then it's been all dead silence. No RQ (thank goodness), no hearing, no oath... nothing.

    Application status showing received

I didn't receive any RQ and CIC has just started processing my application after 18 months of waiting... So counting 2-3 is (unfotunately) a realistic estimate. Unless they finish my application within 6 months it will take more than 2 years in total.

    Residency Questionnaire Recipients Action Plan

I didn't receive an RQ yet, however still my application was sitting for 16 months in the dust and they've started processing it only 2 months ago with a total waiting time of 18 months. My girlfriend is waiting for me almost 5 years now and she was denied a visitor visa although I am a working...
