Hi friends,

I have read many posts on transcripts and it seems everyone goes with sealed transcripts irrespective of whether he/she is a temporary foreign worker or a student applying for PR. The document checklist (IMM5610E) has the following instructions-

Transcripts:
• Temporary Foreign Workers: copies of transcripts of all courses taken
• Graduates: original transcripts of all courses taken must be submitted in university or college sealed envelopes

If I read between the lines, temporary foreign workers can provide copy of marksheet/GPA/CGPA obtained during his/her tenure of study and not an "actual" transcript issued by unversities upon request. Is my understanding correct?

I appreciate your guidance!

Thanks,
Rana

Thanks sai_muthry. Do you think my university marksheets are what they look for from FTW in lieu of Transcripts?

Hi Rana - no need to read between the lines - the explanation for the difference between what the checklist says and what earlier posts say is - rules change.  If you look at the document checklist in the bottom left corner, it has the form number - "IMM 5610 (07-2011) E"  - the 07-2011 means that the document was revised in 07-2011.  Prior to that date, the instructions were different - they required that all applicants provide transcripts in sealed envelopes.

According to current instructions, if you are applying in the temporary worker stream, you only need to provide photocopies of transcripts.  If your "marksheet" provides a list of all courses taken, dates, grades and credits, and indicates the type of degree you received and the date you received it, then it is like a transcript and will probably be accepted.
