Reading is nightmare for me

i remember in my IELTS i could ans only two passage. i m damn slow  Embarrassed i scored 6 only  Cry

After appearing for the IELTS.. I can easily conclude..that READING is the toughest section of all. Despite my best efforts... and being confident of getting 8.0-8.5 or so... I managed only 7.5! The passages were long, of higher standards, questions were many and it was quiet a challenge to answer all the questions correctly in that limited set of time. Roll Eyes

One must have an eye on two questions at the same time ,,,, don't stray in the passage finding just one answer,,,, Underline your key words in the questions (atleast two at the same time --- in this way if you dont manage to find the first but possibly you will find the answer to second question and ultimately it will save your time !!! ) then attempt to hit those keywords in the passage....

It isn't necessary to be aware of the each and every word in the passage,,, you are free here to predict things conceptually when you are entangled with those words you never heard or know the meanings  ...!!!

You are neither required to understand the whole passage nor it is the test of your knowledge ,,,,, just take it as you are just there to provide the answers to the questions !!!!!

Hope it may work for you !!!

LOL  thanks bro.. I feel like a tiger now! ha ha ha... Smiley

One of the tricks, I learned... a long time back..to read faster.. in fact nearly doubles your reading speed (especially very useful when, you are not memorizing but making a quick read) is to focus not on the individual words, but to read between the gap... the space between the two words... try to increase the width of your vision.. read with focusing on larger area, rather than concentrating on each word... and keep reading like that...with practice over time.. one can even memorize and at same time dramatically increase the reading speed.

Ha ha ha ha ........ Its my pleasure to honour you Tiger .... Afterall, i am LEO .... as i know that 'a man is known by the company he keeps' ... So when LeO honours Tiger, LeO himself feels honoured as well...Ha Ha Ha ...!!!!

Yes,,, u r right ,, but it seems somewhat a quite technical technique,,,, and this technique can never be attained without thorough practice ,,, off course it is excellent way to get you through but there is no shortcut to attain this ,,, you have to develop this habit and it develops after a long time as you said that you learnt it a long ago ....!!!!
