My wife has a Permanent resident visa in process but is staying in Canada now on a TRV. Is she elegibly to study english for free and if so where can I go to find out more about this. I live in Burnaby just outside Vancouver.
Also what options are available to her for medical insurance, or if she needs to visit a doctor. I think we should have bought travel insurance for her in Thailand but its a little late for that.

You can check out http://www.elsanet.org/esldirectory/pdf/Lower%20Mainland%20Burnaby.pdf for english classes.  It is possible that she would qualify for the free classes.  You can try your regular insurance company, ask if they do interrim health insurance for newcomers or if they know who does.  Otherwise ask BC health if they can give you a list of companies.
