Hi guys,

I have couple new questions for you.

1) I want to apply for a university scholarship (Global Awards Scholarship) which covers tuition costs. For getting this scholarship student must need financial help. My question here is: In case of getting this kind of scholarship in which you state need of financial help, are there gonna be problems later when applying for study permit? Because when applying for study permit we have to show proof of enough finance, right?

2) If I finish one year postgraduate certificate and after that one or two years master degree, what will be the status of my partner? I know that he will get one year work permit for the first year while I'm studying , but what will happen next? I guess I have to apply for another study permit or extension of the first one, but is it the same rule for my partner work permit?
And at the end after I finish my studies, are we going to be eligible for 3 years open work permit?

Thank you for your help:)

Hi,

1. No, there won't be any such problem. Your approved scholarship is itself a proof of funding. All you need is to submit an official scholarship letter from University, stating amount + any condition attached.
2. Your partner (I suppose a married partner) can apply for the extension of Open Work Permit (which shall remain valid as long as you are studying on a valid study permit).
3. Once you graduate;
-You will be eligible to apply for work permit (PGWP).
-You partner can apply for  Work Permit ONLY IF;

1. He get a job offer + a positive LMO (Labour Market Opinion) which may not be an 'easy task'.
2. You work in a 'skill based occupation', your partner can apply for OWP based on your PGWP.

AS per your first question my bro.
The study scholarships are given to students who having perfect grade like Gpa. 3.0 minimum.
this will not create any problem to your study permit case.
