we are under SINP under existing work permit/permanent job offer category. our application was processed 10 months from the date we submitted full docs to CIC (March to January). prior to that, my husband's work permit expired november 30 and he applied for WP extension on October 15. The reason for the WP extension he gave was his provincial nomination, his job and his pending application for PR with CIC.
I can't say for sure if the reasons he gave were enough to approve WP extension since we got our PR visa before CPC Vegreville was able to process it.

I've read of people and have a former co-worker who were able to apply for WP based on the SINP nomination and the job offer letter. So most probably, you can apply for a new work permit based on the nomination and job offer from your current employer once your PGWP expires.

Let's also wait for what others have to say as I am not 100% sure.

Good luck to you!  Smiley

EDIT: Oh, and I don't think it will take 3 years to get PR. Your PGWP might still be valid by the time you get your PR visa.
