Lol, just when I was going good, my printer decides to throw a spanner in my works!!

Before you start wondering why Im sitting here and writing this instead of going and buying some ink, lemme tell you that I have already been there, done that. But does it work? Nope! Cos the printer is from Saudi Arabia and Im in India and the cartridges from here dont work, and I have to call HP customer care and change my regional settings, blah blah blah!!!

Phew, that ranting and raving session felt so good!  Grin
Thanks for anyone who bothered to read Cheesy

Yup!!! Everyone seems to always run into some sort of problem. And we're always worried about some sort of technicality from immigration, and those concerns are warranted.

And of course there is always those problems that aren't posted on this board such as yours! haha and mine.
My problem is I live on a tiny little tropical island. Just 8km x 1km wide. Resources are scarce here and common things tend to run out such as beer or Coca Cola! ugh! but other times it can be printer ink or anything random.
Actually my biggest problem is the cost of printing here which is exponentially more than  anywhere else in The Philippines! haha If I have 100 pages...it can add up! Its cheaper to fly out of here and print then fly back lol

Just refill the cartridge yourself? ;-)

HP makes pretty decend stuff, but their printers are always hell and the cartridges and toners are just so overpriced!

That's because the printers are throw away loss leaders and they make the vast majority of their money on the consumables... ever wonder why you can buy a printer which includes TWO ink cartridges for 60 bucks and and yet to replace those two cartridges cost 50 bucks each... hell of a business model.

It's called Boracay, Philippines.
Very beautiful place full of wonderful people. Worth a visit for sure!

If you buy a laptop at Future Shop, you get that All-In-One series printer from HP for about 30$. For some reason, everyone falls for it. I'd rather spent some more money on a more decent printer (Canon for example) and save the money over time on the cartridges.

LOL very frustrating when that happens Shamsia. Talking about refilling the cartridges. I was warned that it clogs up and spoils the printer head. I wonder how far this is true.

Glad you had your friend to help you out! But I know how much that must have been for you! Thats the main reason I invested in a printer, its definitely worth having one while you gather together the immigration stuff Smiley

I know, I havent gotten around to printing anything since the past 4 days. Guess the waits gonna be worth Smiley

From what I know of refilling (never tried this personally yet, dont want it to affect the quality of my immigration pictures). After refilling a print cartridge 5 or 6 times, the print head will eventually wear out. It can't last forever. Then you'll just have to buy a new cartridge and replace it. But thats still a LOT of money saved on ink!

The key is to get it refilled before you get the message that you are running low on ink. That way you fool the chip at the bottom of the cartridge from informing the printer people that you are upto some hanky panky Cheesy
