Hi there!

I was just wondering if it is possible to include copy of ROE &/or pay stabs instead of T4.  'Coz I am in a hurry to submit my sponsorship application and it will still take sometime for the T4 to arrive.

Also, can I request for an "Option C Print-out" even when I have not yet paid my income tax for 2008?

Any information will be highly appreciated!

You don't need to submit your T4. I would submit the Option C from your 2007 taxes. And just be careful with trying to rush things -- take your time so that you don't make any mistakes and pay for later by having to wait longer.

Hi Ariel,

Thanks for replying.

I just have a follow-up question, Isn't it I should get the option C from my 2008 tax which is the most recent taxable year?  And in which I was able to meet the minimum necessary requirement?  'coz I just worked for two months last 2007, so if the gov't. will base on that particular year, I will not become eligible to sponsor.

If you are sponsoring your spouse, there is no minimum financial capability that you need to meet. You don't even need to have a job. Since you haven't filed for 2008 and you likely won't be doing that til April, I don't see how you will get the option C quickly. All they ask is that it is the Option C from your most recent taxation year, so if 2007 is the last year you filed, then  that would be your most recent taxation year. I think they understand that most people won't be doing their 2008 taxes for some time.

Hi Ariel,

Actually, I am sponsoring my mom, so I need to meet the financial requirement.  I don't have a co-signer either, so I guess having a stabled job is a major factor in sponsoring.  I am in a hurry to submit may application because my current job is only until end of Feb (1-yr contract).  And due to recession, I am worried that I will not be able to find a new job soon enough before I submit my application.  I think it will be a minus point for me if ever I am jobless at the time I file my application, don't you think so?

Send the letter from the employer, as requested by CIC with all the information about period of employment, salary etc.  With the declaration of your personal net income from the sponsorship evaluation, and the info from your employer, they can figure out if you meet the minimum necessary income.  You could include a couple copies of recent pay stubs to seal the deal.

BUT YOU STILL NEED THE OPTION C PRINTOUT! If you send your application without it, send a letter of explanation that you'll send it ASAP.  (It only takes a couple days to get).

Thanks AMB for taking time to reply.

Yes, I think I will try to submit my application together with a letter noting I will forward the option C print-out after I paid my tax for 2008.

Take care!
