Hi brothers and sisters, i became PR in 2010 , i went back to China and got married there in May 2011 , i am from Cameroon , my wife too , 2 days ago i arrived here in Canada to settle for good , and i want to start the sponsorship of my wife immidiately , she remained in China on a study permit(student visa) of one year (sept 2011-sept 2012).
My questions and worries are:
-Is it right to start immidiately? should i wait until i get a job to sponsor her ?
- must i have a source of income before i can be able to sponsor ?
-I read on the website that China takes about 4 months to complete such application, anyone with experience from Beijing office? concerning sponsorship of a spouse?
  Thanks a lot !
God bless

Although you do not need a specific minimum income to sponsor a spouse, you still need to show how you intend to support your spouse and fulfill your responsibilities as a sponsor, so it would be good to have some kind of income before you commence the sponsoring process.

If you are going to sublet the apartment, get some kind of lease in writing to show this.  There is no issue if you have a roommate.

Thanks a lot for your comment , well i have to start this process as soon as possible because she only has a one year visa in China and i want to make sure that she gets the visa within this period of time , so do you think i will be denied to sponsor my wife if i declare that i do not yet have a job ? i have savings in my Bank account in Canada (funds brought from abroad),can i show that in the plan i have to fulfill my obligations as a sponsor ?
Thanks!

If you have no earned income, definitely show proof of your savings income, it is required.

Timeline as stated of Beijing office is correct. ours took even less (plus about 6-8 weeks application of sponsor). However, you might double-check whether you're eligible to have your application being processed through Beijing as your wife is not a Chinese citizen.

Thank you guys for the answers , yes i do have savings with scotia bank here and i hope that will work , about being eligible to apply in Beijing , one does not necessarily need to be a chinese citizen to apply there, i myself i got my canadian  PR at Beijng office last year , the applicant should just prove that he/she has a legal status (residence visa , study permit ) of at least ONE year , and my wife does as her residence permit starts from this september till september next year.
I really hope Beijing will be fast on my case too , i am going to start to collect the paperwork next week
God bless!
